This past week for our project we mainly looked at our data and wrote up our conclusions and results. When looking back our data we are unable to draw any exact conclusions. Our results are inconclusive due to the contamination of our first trial and the lack of the time we had for our second trial. The only real findings we had were that our adipocytes were starting to differentiate but we believe that was because of the medium that was added. Unfortunately because of the lack of accurate results that we acquired we are unable to answer with absolute certainty our research question. When comparing our cells from the wells with ethanol to the cells in the wells with Kinky Pink there doesn't appear to be much of a difference in size.
Overall, this project was extremely interesting and I enjoyed being able to test how alcohol affects fat cells even if our experiment didn't turn out how we had wanted it to. We tried to take photos as often as we could but that didn't always work out because other groups needed to use the microscope too and taking photos could be a somewhat lengthy process. If we were to ever do this project again I would make sure I set aside specific times for my partner and I to take photos of our cells and to to ensure next time that all of the sterilization procedures were done correctly to eliminate contamination.
Below are the links to the drafts of our results, conclusion and our final research paper. Also below are screenshots of our data table where we listed the data we collected. The photo on the left is the data from our first trial with the contamination and the photo on the right is the data from our second trial. (Click on photos for a better view)
